So your LoMM game boots up to the menu screen but you notice that there is this sort of lag when moving through the menu screens which makes the game response slow and unbearable.
Download the
Smooth Running Fix files and drop them into your main LoMM folder for a good chance to fix a lot of your LoMM video issues. These files have become a life saver for a lot of folk who want to play LoMM on their modern machines.

Note: When you shut the game down you may have a window that doesnt shut down all the way. Simply Ctrl-Alt-Delete to your TASK MANAGER and close down the Legends program there to shut the window down. Its a small price to pay for a working LoMM game.

If your game isnt responding to the above solutions then you could try using the DxWnd tool.  I havn't personally used it but others have had sucess with this when they ran out of other options.

DxWind allows for windowed screen and fixes some issues with video and game performance on newer computers running Win32 programs.

Help

First Things First

Mouse/Game Smoothness

Sometimes the LoMM game doesn't want to work right. Below are some of  the main issues and fixes when it comes to LoMM and modern computing.

Error 22

Still no luck

This has to do with a windows feature component that needs to be turned on. If you go to the bottom left of your windows desktop you can use the windows search function to find the Windows Features menu. Just type it in and it will pop up a link.

So your LoMM game is running great but when you change your games resolution it messes up or gets stuck. The solution is to change the resolution before it fully boots up the game. To do this you must load up the game through a certain executable file called

LEGENDS.EXE

This file is in your main Legends directory and once ran will load up a small menu which will allow you to pick a new resolution before the game loads up. There are also other game options you can tweak there as well.

The other way to load up LoMM is with the file called

LITHTECH.EXE

and it's in your main Legends folder.

If you load up  the game with this file you wont get the small options menu  but you are able to click through the game intro and not have to wait.

With the other  game boot up file LEGENDS.EXE you cant click through the game intro but once you get your right resolution picked with this file you can go back to loading the game up with the quicker LITHTECH.EXE.

So your game is running good but when you turn your mouse to look around it isn't as smooth as you once remember it being and has a jittery feel. My Win 10 has this issue and there is a fix.

Once you are in game and have chosen your character you can hit the tilde (~) key which is usually on the top left of a keyboard. Then type

INPUTRATE 1

and hit enter. Press tilde key again to exit console.

There is a space between inputrate and the 1. You can input other numbers as well. You just have to play around and see what feels best but it should help smooth out your mouse jitter issues.

You only have to type this in once per lomm gaming session....so don't forget.

The second part of this is to set your games max frames to 100 fps. For some reason people are finding frame rate and visual graphic fluidity with mouse working better at this number. You can try this or any other number and see but it just changes your games max frame output. Pull up the consol again and enter the following.

MAXFPS 100

If you enter MAXFPS 0 it will put no cap on your frames and will be full open for your system.
You should only have to enter maxfps once and it saves forever until you change it again. INPUTRATE 1 on the other hand has to be entered once a gaming session to take advantage of it.

Once you have the features menu up you need to find and check the box that is called Direct Play which is located in Legacy Components

Once you turn that on it will load in the component needed for LoMM to load up on your machine and it should fix the Error 22 issue.

There are a couple of actions usually taken with getting LoMM to run in its best way that people have been doing for years.

The first advised option is to run LoMM in ADMINISTRATOR mode.

The 2nd is to run LoMM in a COMPATIBILITY mode if encountering issues with the game loading up. You may have to try different modes depending on your computer. To access these menu settings you just right click on your game startup icon and select properties.

Problems changing Resolution

Error 22 is an error i've seen a few times on Windows 10 machines. After installation you try to load the LoMM game up but it fails and reports the below error.

Menu Lag /Game Lag

Select your new resolution and Launch the game you may notice the game opens in a small windowed mode. Shut it down and then relaunch the game and it should go Full Screen.
